April 2017 Dinner Meeting at the Morgan Run Club & Resort “Hospitality Legal Issues”
April 18 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Hospitality Legal Issues with Mia Saling
“Hospitality Legal Issues – Are you protected?”
As successful wedding industry professionals, we are experienced and good at what we do yet we know our businesses require more than just our skill to survive. Our businesses require marketing expertise and industry relationships to grow, and good accounting/budgeting to make sure we continue to grow. And to make sure that our businesses are protected from both daily threats and catastrophic risks, we need good legal counsel. Yet when it comes to legal issues, we as small business owners often don’t minimize the daily threats and sometimes even increase the catastrophic risk by not seeking professional legal advice.
Instead of being one of those business owners, join us for this informative event presented by a lawyer who specializes in the hospitality industry and learn how to reduce the risks to your business. During this presentation Mia will:
- Inform you of the latest legal info pertaining to Wedding Industry Business Owners.
- Identify some business activities that affect risk including contracts and insurance.
- Talk about how the new Cannabis law could impact your events.
- And of course, take time to answer your legal questions.
As a bonus, for those that want their contract reviewed and discussed (anonymously of course), we are asking 3 of our ABCSD Members to send us their contract and Mia will use it as a real life example pointing out what’s correct and what could leave you open. If you are interested in this amazing, no cost opportunity, please contact Peggy Jewell at firstname.lastname@example.org.

“Learn about Florals, Then Make the Event’s Centerpieces!”
Take a Peek Into the life of a Wedding & Event Professional with Atalanta Jackson of CAMELLIA WEDDING FLOWERS
Knowing what other vendors go through in their business gives us a wider understanding and appreciation for what it takes to do their job. By learning more about each other, we gain empathy and learn how to work better together to create unforgettable events for our clients!
At the next ABC Professional Development Program meeting, you will have the opportunity to take a peek into the life of Atalanta Jackson who owns Camellia Wedding Flowers. She will inform you of the inner workings of a busy wedding florist, the current floral trends, and a few ways to create a great working relationship with the florist at your event. To spice it up, you will have the opportunity to work with others, hands on, and create the floral arrangements that will go on the tables at our event! So, bring your creativity and join our complimentary Professional Development Program.
ATALANTA JACKSON, Camellia Wedding Flowers
Atalanta began working in flower shops when she was only 15. Today, over 20 years later, her business has grown to one of San Diego’s most successful and respected wedding and event floral companies. Camellia Wedding Flowers, named after her beautiful daughter, Camille is located blocks from the Ocean where Atalanta loves engaging with her clients, making them feel at ease with her warm and friendly smile and personality.
Her extensive knowledge and creativity is complimented by her easy-going ways and how attentive she is in listening to her client’s desires and executing them to perfection. You may have seen Atalanta at our last ABC event when she volunteered to go on stage and play the role of the vendor for the “initial consultation process”, which she impressed the audience with her confidence and grace.
